Embodying Your Curriculum: An Introduction to the Fundamentals of Trauma-Informed Pedagogy

July 9, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event
This webinar introduces participants to our approach to using trauma-informed pedagogies, the neuroscience of mental health, and pedagogies of social justice and diversity to create connection and embodied presence in the online and in-person classroom, at a moment when higher education is called upon to face profound social problems that cannot be walled off from our classes and that produce anxiety, stress, and burnout among students, staff, and faculty. Created and facilitated by two women of color and the co-founders of Embodying Your Curriculum, an online program designed to teach professors the fundamentals of trauma-informed pedagogy, this session provides an overview of the paradigm of trauma informed pedagogy, explains why we need it now, and provides tools for beginning to incorporate this paradigm into your curriculum.
Presenters: Anita Chari (Ph.D, Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Oregon) and Angelica Singh (M.A., BCST, Founder of The Embodiment Process™)
This webinar session is being held for UNC Pembroke, but the presenters have offered to allow UNCG faculty and staff to attend as well. A Zoom link will be distributed with your RSVP for the session.
