What does it mean to be assertive? Assertiveness is a core communication skill that allows us to advocate for our wants and needs in a way that respects the rights of others, as well as ourselves. Some people are naturally assertive; and for others, it requires practice. This training is here to help. During this session, we will look at what it means to be assertive and what situations benefit from it the most. It also covers strategies for understanding your emotions, wants, and needs so you can clearly define what you need from others.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Differentiate between passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive forms of communication.
- Know the benefits and disadvantages of various forms of communication.
- Develop healthier relationships with the people around you, including friends, family members, significant.other and co-workers.
- Practice practical methods of asserting yourself daily.
- Gain confidence in advocating for your needs and desires.
By the end of this training, you will be better able to advocate for yourself using assertive communication techniques.
Target Audience: This workshop is for anyone who would like to develop their assertiveness skills.
