Reconnecting and Re-Engaging with Our Teaching and Our Students
April 18, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
NOTE: Due to low faculty enrollment in the first session, we are wrapping that discussion into the 2nd session.
Please RSVP for the second session if you are interested in attending. THANK YOU!
Recent meetings across campus have raised concerns about our student enrollment, retention, and performance. Preliminary analysis, though ongoing, indicates that these struggles appear to be a combination of academic preparation and academic engagement. However, faculty are facing challenges of their own. Before we address student engagement, we will take a step back and consider how we might rediscover our own joy in teaching and re-engage ourselves with our students. This is a two part brown bag lunch and learn* series in the Faculty Center. The first session will focus on a discussion of reconnecting with what we love about teaching and our students. It will also give participants a chance to voice their own concerns about their recent experiences with students so that these can be addressed during our second session, which will provide easy ideas for how to increase student engagement in your courses. Many of the suggestions can be applied in both on-campus and online courses.
First Session: Monday, April 18th at Noon in the Faculty Center
Second Session: Monday, April 25th at Noon in the Faculty Center
